House Build - Fidler

We had to liaise closely with our structural engineer and the client’s architect to produce a set of manufacturing drawings as well as Calcs for Building Control. The Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPs) for the external and internal walls were then manufactured in our factory before being delivered to the site for erection. A foil-faced breather membrane was used externally, along with a foil-faced Vapour Control Layer (VCL) to improve the thermal performance of the panels. Studwork partitions were used inside the building.

During the course of the build, we had to overcome a number of obstacles, including site access. The roof was designed to be built from front to back and this required a crane that could reach right over to the back of the building. However, due to the limited access, it was necessary to use a smaller crane and to overcome the problem we had to re-adjust the order of build in order to complete the roof.
